The TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) on Wednesday 21st August 2013 held a "consumer outreach programme" in Cochin as part of its initiative to reach out to telecom consumers and other stakeholders of the telecom industry and to create awareness about various initiatives taken by it recently to protect interests of telecom consumers. The programme, held by the TRAI's Regional office in association with the The Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was also intended to provide a platform for direct interaction among consumers and stakeholders of the industry regarding various consumer-centric initiatives of TRAI. CCCI President Mr.P.Narayan delivered the welcome address. This was followed by a presentation from Dr.Sibichen Mathew IRS Advisor and Regional Head(Kerala and Karnataka) on the various services offered by TRAI to telecom users and also a brief on the rights and privileges of a consumer. There was also an interactive session for participants regarding consumer related issues. A large number of consumers actively participated in the interactive session. TRAI also released the Malayalam Version of the handbook Telecom Users and the first copy was handed over to Mr.P.Narayan. Chamber Members, Telecom Service Providers, Mobile Phone Users and Cable TV Operators attended the programme.
